Step 1

The first order of business after striping the boat of the engine, interior, hardware, fuel tank, and rolling her over is removing the existing bottom. If new planks are to be installed, a power drill and wire brush make quick (but messy) work of exposing the fastener heads. Much care is taken to ensure the planks come off in one piece so they can be used as patterns. They are marked for placement and set aside for later. If the planks are to be re-used, an ice pick is used to force out the putty sealing the fasteners
