1955 15' Century Palomino

One of the cutest little boats to ever float. I kid you not. My information indicates that when the Palomino came out of the Century factory it was the most beautiful, most expensive outboard pleasure boat in the world at the time. Century pulled all the stops on these models...unusual for a company to do that with what is normally an entry level boat. The boat was planked throughout with African mahogany, with the exception of the Avodire blond forward and rear decks. Even the bottom is of African mahogany, rather than plywood...which nearly every other O/B manufacturer used.

This particular boat came to us from another shop after several years of an unsuccessful and incorrect completion. That said, the other shop did a very nice job with the woodwork, and we could not have done any better ourselves with that. Our job was to give more attention to the overall finish, get the Century details correct, attend to the cosmetics on the 50hp Johnson Javelin, and make all right for showing. We don't normally commit to producing show boats, but the owner is also a buddy and we wanted to do the boat up right for him.

Not bad. It was truly a fun boat to do.
